“Rococco Retreat” Hotel Complex
Location:Goa, India
Year of development: 2014
Plot area: 6000m2
Hotel total area: 5950m2
The design objective was to develop a concept for the hotel complex “Rococco Retreat” in Goa, India.
The key challenge of the project related to the mountainous landscape relief: a trapezoidal-shaped 6,000 sq.m. land with 40% height differences. This imposed certain restrictions and increased the requirements for the architecture of the project, its engineering components and the design concept of the landscape itself.
The solution was found by gradation of the volumes, locating the administrative, public and residential areas at different levels, united by green and water spaces, numerous walking paths and stairs, as well as a serpentine path for electric cars.
The first and second levels of the complex consist of the reception, restaurant kitchen and administrative and technical rooms.
The restaurant with open teracces is located under a large roof at the third level – providing an astonishing view. The pool with a pool-bar and spa-center are located behind the administrative area.
The central part of the pool features a small waterfall, reaching the reception level, and the pool-bar connects with the lounge zone by a small bridge.
Further, up the hill – the residential area is located, consisting of 60 standard and 8 superior rooms. Our proposal optimally highlights the location’s best quality- the sea-view. All rooms of the complex are provided with cozy balconies allowing the best possible view to the sea.
The concept behind the landscaping and improvement of the complex’s territory allows to integrate it into the existing landscape, and corresponds strongly with the modern ecostandards – involving the use of rain water collectors, solar panels, etc. In addition, the proposed project is widely focused on use of the local stone, wood, straw and other building materials, that are traditional for the region.
